From Harry Winston to Tiffany & Co.: 24 Vault-Worthy Emerald Jewels to Gift This Season

Emeralds have, for centuries, captivated empires, royals, and the generally well-heeled and powerful. Egyptian queen Cleopatra was so enamored with the stone that she would carve her likeness into the green gems and present them to her favorite subjects and traveling dignitaries. And while emeralds have always remained coveted, recently, they have been popping up, from ultra-high-end glamorous evening pieces like a jaw-dropping cuff bracelet from to a pair of everyday jewels like an emerald bead necklace from Los Angeles-based jeweler Azlee.

Some of the best designs come in straightforward geometric arrangments like ‘s ME necklace set with an alternating arrangement of diamonds and emeralds along the edge of a blackened gold collar or in Jenna Blake’s Shadow Max cuff where the emerald-cut emeralds are set tilted within gold spheres. Rings also stood out for their unusual stone presentation: Indian designer Krishna Choudary of Santi set a 7.50-carat emerald cabochon atop a diamond-accented band reminiscent of fish scales. At the same time, Lugano Diamonds topped off an ebony and diamond snake-inspired ring with a kite-shaped emerald set atop diamonds so their snow-setting can be seen through the emerald.

Others let their emeralds mostly speak for themselves. Ara Vartanian’s very sizeable Zambian emerald, weighing in at 36.75 carats, takes center stage perched on a seemingly simple chain necklace that, upon closer inspection, combines 18-karat white gold and yellow gold, and a combination of white, brown, and inverted black diamonds. Likewise, Glenn Spiro’s gorgeous Colombian emerald drop earrings are so perfectly set they appear to float without settings, and Selima Mouzannar’s 18.02-carat sizeable studs hardly need any extra dressing save for their subtle black enamel, 18-karat pink gold, and diamond frames.

, of course, remain the crème de la crème of their kind. However, some top-quality Zambian emeralds can also be just as good. Regardless of origin, emeralds always make a powerful statement. Here, we’ve rolled out several stunning options, from a $7,860 Ophelia Eve cuff to Reza’s price-upon-request Cascade earrings. It’s not too late to make that last-minute holiday purchase…
