In 2012, Melania Trump sat down with Refinery 29 to talk about her jewelry line. When asked about her daily eating habits, she said, “Well, in the morning, every morning, I have a smoothie with a few ingredients and a lot of vitamins in it — it’s very healthy.” Although she didn’t get into specifics, there seemed to be a demand for details, because in February 2013, she posted the recipe on Facebook. “Got many requests from you for [the] recipe of my every day delicious [and] healthy breakfast,” she wrote. “Mix all fresh and organic: spinach, celery, carrots, blueberries, apple, orange juice, lemon juice, fat-free yogurt, olive oil, flax seeds, omega-3, vitamin D.”
While everything in her smoothie is great for you, there are a few standouts. For example, spinach is always on top of “healthiest vegetable” lists because it’s low in calories and high in antioxidants, calcium, and vitamins K, A, and C. Carrots, too, are amongst the healthiest vegetables you can eat, and a 2018 study in Medicine found that eating carrots every day could lower one’s risk of breast cancer.
When it comes to berries, she picked the healthiest of them all. Blueberries are high in antioxidants, as well as vitamins C and K, while flax seeds are a fantastic source of omega-3 fatty acids and dietary fiber, and also contain properties that can help lower cholesterol. Combined with all the other ingredients, you’re looking at one heck of a healthy smoothie. How it tastes, however, is another story.
