CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Regional department store Belk will soon add to the outlet concept that it launched two years ago.
The company announced it will open two outlets this spring in its home state of North Carolina: one at Eastridge Mall in Gastonia and the other at Triangle Town Center Mall in Raleigh.
Both locations will continue to operate traditional Belk stores on the second level and convert the first floor into outlets. The openings will bring the number of Belk Outlet locations in the state to three.
Belk opened its first outlet store in January 2023 in Greeneville, Tenn. and has since opened 16 additional locations. It first implemented the two-floor concept at its Northlake Mall location in Charlotte, converting one level of the property into an outlet while the other level remained a traditional store.
The wide selection of merchandise in Belk Outlet units comes directly from traditional Belk stores. In addition, the outlets stock value fashion and home merchandise purchased specifically for those locations.
“Since opening our first outlet nearly two years ago, our customers have come to love the concept of combining our traditional stores and outlets in one place. We’re excited to incorporate this approach into additional locations this year,” said Don Hendricks, CEO of privately-owned Belk.
The company currently operates more than 280 full-line Belk department stores across 16 Southeastern states.
