Nine Perfect Strangers has been renewed for a second season, which means a new crop of guests have signed up for Masha Dmitrichenko’s transformative (and disturbing) retreat.
Set in the snowy Austrian Alps, Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 will follow a group of people who have signed up for a multi-day wellness retreat under the guidance of a Russian guru, played by Nicole Kidman, who uses psychedelic therapy to heal her guests.
“Over the course of a week, she takes them to the brink,” the synopsis teases. “Will they make it? Will she? Masha is willing to try anything in the interest of healing everyone involved, including herself.”
The thriller, based on Liane Moriarty’s 2018 novel of the same name, first premiered on Hulu as a miniseries in 2021. It starred Kidman alongside other big names like Melissa McCarthy, Bobby Cannavale and Regina Hall. In 2023, Deadline reported that the show had been renewed for a second season and would follow an anthology format, meaning season 2 would feature an entirely new story and cast.
Kidman will reprise her role as Masha and lead an ensemble cast that includes Annie Murphy, Murray Bartlett and Christine Baranski. The first two episodes of the second season premiere on Hulu on May 21, and the remaining episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays.
