GMC has a new Hummer EV for 2026, and the automaker says it’s now quicker than ever.
The 2026 GMC Hummer EV goes from zero to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds at its quickest, which, a generation ago, would’ve been considered supercar territory but is now par for the course with EVs and their instant torque.
Even with that new speed, GMC is more excited about a new feature called King Crab mode, which turns the rear wheels faster than the front wheels. That could be useful for various off-roading applications, including crawling over rocks and moving around things in the way. It could also be useful for parallel parking, though, the GMC Hummer EV is almost the polar opposite of a city car.
GMC Hummer EVs already had a version of four-wheel steering, but the new King Crab takes that up a level. GMC also says it will be available in older model Hummer EVs as an over-the-air update. GMC plans this to be the norm in the future—updating the Hummer EV with clever new features to keep the car fresh.
“King Crab fulfills a promise set at the HUMMER EV Pickup’s original launch to deliver on the famed ‘Mystery Mode’ button where owners could submit their own ‘epic ideas’ to GMC,” GMC said in a statement.

The quickest Hummer EV will be the Carbon Fiber Edition, which GMC says will be made in limited quantities. GMC said when the Hummer EV debuted that it is the “first and only supertruck,” which was to point out, at the time, that the Tesla Cybertruck was not yet a real thing. The Cybertruck made its debut in 2023, and has had an uneven time of it, selling a lot by some conventional measures but getting a mixed reception in other respects. In its press release on Thursday, GMC continued calling the Hummer EV a supertruck, while Tesla merely calls the Cybertruck a pickup.
GMC did not say how much the 2026 Hummer EV will cost, or the Carbon Fiber Edition, but you can expect an increase from the base price of the 2025 Hummer EV, which is $99,045 for the pickup version. GMC also did not give an estimate for its range, though both numbers will be available when the Hummer EV starts appearing in dealerships later this year.
