It’s fairly obvious that Drake takes his health seriously. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to show off serious muscles on his Instagram. But staying lean and strong isn’t possible if you’re not committed to consuming high-nutrient foods. That’s the reason for the buzz around Drake’s diet.
Although it’s quite difficult to say exactly what Drake eats on a daily basis, he’s offered plenty of clues regarding what’s on his regular menu. First off, forget about looking for meat on his plate. During a 2024 live stream with Twitch gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, he mentioned that he was vegetarian (via Polygon).
On the same livestream, Drake also noted he liked pineapple on his pizza (via a tweet from the official Twitch X account). That’s a double clue: He’s eating nutrient-rich tropical fruits and hasn’t cut out carbs completely, at least if his pizza is made the traditional way. (Here’s what happens when you eat pineapple every day.)

Interestingly, in 2017, Glamour reported that carbs might not have been a go-to food for Drake at the time. Jonny Roxx, Drake’s personal trainer at the time, mentioned that the star steered clear of refined carbs to help with his “cutting phase.” (You may also want to learn the reasons why you should avoid refined carbs.) Since the article was published seven years before the Twitch event that featured pizza, it’s possible that Drake may have brought carbs back into his life, at least somewhat.
However, it’s unclear if he’s still keeping pasta at arm’s length, which Roxx also talked about during his exclusive interview. More likely, Drake is moderating his pasta intake; after all, in 2020, his 34th birthday bash included at least one helping of mac and cheese. This insider look at a celeb birthday party comes straight from a Vanity Fair article that named quite a few buffet items that Drake apparently approved for his celebration. Along with mac and cheese, his spread included grilled cauliflower with raisins. (Oddly, raisins were also an ingredient in the mac and cheese casserole.) Back then, poultry and seafood were featured on the birthday table as well, but with the 2024 vegetarian admission, Drake’s next party might not offer any animal- or fish-based fare.

A high-level view of Drake’s cobbled-together (presumed) diet shows a 30-something man who’s eschewing meat, embracing fruits (pineapple) and veggies (cauliflower), and likely controlling his carb intake, save for the occasional late-night pizza (although you should never eat pizza before bed). From a health perspective, those decisions could be good for his cardiovascular system and weight management goals.
For instance, a 2021 study in the Journal of the American Heart Association showed that when individuals began a plant-centric diet in early adulthood, they lowered their risk of heart disease by the time they reached their middle-age years. Even participants who ate animal products some of the time reduced their chances of cardiovascular disease by 52%.
Meanwhile, keeping carbohydrates in check remains one of the most widely accepted ways to control your weight. Eating low-carb meals produces an appetite-suppressing effect. Findings from a 2018 study in JAMA concluded that after a year, dieters who followed low-carb eating regimens lost the same amount as their peers who ate low-fat eating regimens. In other words, reducing carbs seemed to have the same outcome as reducing fat.
