ATLANTA — Glassware was the standout tabletop category at Atlanta Market last week — and color was the defining characteristic within that category.
Colored, textured tumblers, wine glasses and specialty barware have been in vogue for a while, but they were pervasive in Atlanta and are being marketed in clever new ways to draw consumer attention.
The glass was either delicate, paper thin and undecorated, or heavier-weight and ribbed, etched or carved. Most were tinted pastel hues of pink, blue, mint, but there were few outliers, like Be Home’s mugs that come in colors like amber or smoke and have a handle in an alternating color.
Waterford, which returned to the trade show circuit in the U.S. with a showroom in Atlanta, reintroduced its Mixology barware collection in color (blue, pink, green and gold) which it is selling in mixed sets of four (one of each color in a box).
Gems, a colored stemware collection from LSA International, is sold in sets of four in color families, such as four shades of blue, or berry, or amber.
Khen, a sister company of The Wine Savant that promotes everyday, elevated glassware, took an innovative approach to packaging by grouping similar colors of stemware indicative of different travel destinations such as Hawaii or South Beach or the Rocky Mountains, in a full-picture box.
