Reudink acquires German facility to expand organic feed footprint

Reudink, a subsidiary of ForFarmers, is strengthening its position in the organic feed market by acquiring a compound feed factory in Fürstenau, Germany, from A. Ricke Agrar.

It says the goal of this acquisiton is to enable it better serve its customers in the region while tapping into Germany’s growing demand for organic feed.

This deal expands Reudink’s footprint to four locations: Lochem (Netherlands), Fürstenau, Gescher, and Ichenhausen (Germany).

Conversion to organic production

Built in 2019, the Fürstenau facility currently produces 40,000 tons of conventional laying hen feed. Reudink plans to convert the plant to organic production, leveraging and expanding its existing capacity.

The first organic feed from the site is expected to be produced and delivered in the second half of 2025, following certification and necessary preparations.

Reudink already produces organic compound feed through contract production in Gescher (North Rhine-Westphalia) and Ichenhausen (Bavaria). With demand for organic feed rising in Germany, the Fürstenau facility will enhance Reudink’s ability to supply both EU-certified organic feed and Germany’s ‘Verbands’ feed, including Naturland, Bioland, Biokreis, and Demeter-certified products.

“This production location brings us closer to customers in this part of Germany,” says Judith Hofland, director of Reudink, adding that the deal will allow the company to serve those customers in a more efficient way, and at market-based prices.

“In addition, it will allow us to shorten our average transport distance to the farm, allowing us to supply feed with a lower environmental impact.”
