HIGH POINT — After eight years of providing a haven for designers to relax, recharge and catch up during High Point Markets, the Universal Furniture Designers’ Lounge is being completely renovated this spring for its ninth year.
Universal Marketing Director Kayla Miller designed a new experience to make designers feel even more like a VIP.
“Designers should view the new lounge as a private retreat,” she said. “When days are long, feet are tired and eyes are overstimulated, it offers a calm, beautiful space set apart from the bustle of market where they can recharge, relax and enjoy a few well-deserved luxuries.
Once visitors check into the showroom (a Universal account is required), they will be greeted by servers ferrying wine, cocktails, tea, coffee and snacks. And designers can select their own present at the luxury gift kiosk.
The lounge will feature colorful upholstery that highlights the company’s North Carolina-based custom upholstery program, featuring lush velvets, deep jewel tones and shapely designs. The rooms themselves are brought to life with bold, expressive color from Little Greene Paint Company.
At the back of the lounge, Miller has carved out a space for designers and clients to review plans together.
In addition, Universal will have a concierge on hand to help designers with dinner reservations and any transportation needs.
The Learning Center is also get a refresh this market, will all new seating and a new coffee bar with hot and iced coffee as well as water.
