drinkers in the know are well aware that there are some fantastic rums out there that will appeal to their palate. is its own unique category, of course, but the fact is that there are some well-aged, exceptional expressions available that just speak to fans of and scotch who might not have given this particular brown spirits category a chance before. That is certainly the case with a new trio of rums from , part of the brand’s ongoing Reserve Cask Collection.
was founded in 2019 by Marc Farrell, an entrepreneur born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. After graduating MIT, he became the youngest VP in Starbucks history at the tender age of 33. But his true calling seems to be rum, not coffee, so he has developed brand that focuses on quality and transparency, and eschews the use of sugar, color, and other additives in its spirits. The core lineup consists of a dark rum that combines eight-year-old column still rum from Barbados and the Dominican Republic with pot still Jamaican and Trinidadian rum, and an un-aged white rum that is a blend of liquid from the DR and Jamaica.
The latest addition to the lineup are these three high-end and extremely delicious single cask rums, each produced in a different country and aged for 18 years, which is a very long time considering how tropical maturation accelerates the interaction between wood and spirit given the high heat and humidity. The first rum is from Barbados, which like the other two rums was distilled in 2006 and bottled in 2024 at 92 proof. This rum was distilled in pot and column stills and aged in an ex-bourbon barrel, giving it notes of cocoa, butterscotch, tropical fruit, and caramel. The second rum comes from Trinidad, and was distilled on a column still and aged in a “recycled rum cask.” This rum has notes of vanilla, tropical fruit, banana, and burnt espresso beans on the palate. Lastly, there’s a rum from Jamaica that was distilled on a pot still and aged in an ex-bourbon barrel, with notes of dusty leather, roasted nuts, bittersweet chocolate, and creme brulee on the palate. The source distilleries were not revealed for these rums, but like other products there are no additives in the liquid.
This trio of rums is being released in very limited numbers, with just 325 bottles of each available at $200 per bottle. You can purchase them now from the Ten To One , and the rest of the collection is available now from secondary retailers like .
