The Four Seasons is shining a light on the quaint small towns and scenic landscapes of Upstate New York, and fans of the Netflix series can actually recreate the seasonal getaways that the characters took in real life — hopefully without all the bickering!
Throughout the eight-episode series, three couples — Kate (Tina Fey) and Jack (Will Forte, Nick (Steve Carell) and Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver), and Danny (Colman Domingo) and Claude (Marco Calvani) — embark on a different vacation each season, only to find their marriages are tested in the process.
As the six pals confront issues in their relationships and experience a few unfortunate (but hilarious) travel mishaps along the way, viewers are simultaneously taken on a tour of the beautiful natural wonders and idyllic towns the Hudson Valley has to offer.

PEOPLE spoke to location manager Matt Lamb all about the real places seen in the series. With the exception of the group’s summer trip — which was filmed in Puerto Rico — the fall, winter and spring vacations were all shot across Upstate New York.
“We knew we wanted to be in the Hudson Valley,” Lamb says of shooting the series, which is an adaptation of Alan Alda’s 1981 film of the same name.
Lamb calls filming there “a magical experience. We had many moments when we were like, ‘Did you see what I saw today?’ It was all majestic.” Fans of the series can actually visit the real-life small towns, unwind at the same cool hangouts and even try their hand at skiing just like the friends do on the show.

During a spring vacation, Kate, Anne and Claude explore Main Street and visit the Apothecary, which is actually the Cold Spring General Store in Cold Spring, N.Y. Viewers also catch a glimpse of the stunning mountains that make up the Hudson Highlands in the background.
Cold Spring is nestled along the banks of the Hudson River, and it’s “basically at the foot of the Appalachian Trail, so it attracts hikers all year round,” says Lamb. Nature lovers can easily walk about 20 minutes from Cold Spring Station to Washburn Trail for a scenic hike that offers sweeping views of the river.

Of filming there, Lamb recalls, “The general store was a gem of a location and the Main Street is just fantastic.” He adds, “It’s a really charming place” that’s great to visit “year round.”

Beacon, N.Y., transforms into a college town for the friends’ fall trip when they go to visit Kate and Jack’s daughter Beth, and Nick and Anne’s daughter Lila at school.
While Kate and Danny explore a nearby furniture store, Claude accompanies Jack to The Vinyl Room — a real restaurant and bar that doubles as a record shop in Beacon. As the unlikely duo sift through a selection of records, Claude confesses to having some marital troubles but admits he doesn’t want to “bring this energy into the weekend.”

In real life, patrons can grab a drink and a bite, then browse through The Vinyl Room’s impressive collection of roughly 2,500 records across genres. They can also take advantage of the nine vintage arcade machines in the basement.
Just like the characters did in the show, fans should make sure to visit Beacon in the fall to see the most vibrant fall foliage. It’s best to book a trip in the second half of October when the leaves are at their peak.
Mount Peter

This modest ski area in Warwick, N.Y., sets the scene for the group’s winter travels as the friends embark on a fun-filled snowy excursion.
Lamb says finding Mount Peter was a “real odyssey” for the crew because they were looking for places where there would “be snow as early as possible.” The episodes were mostly shot in November, when it’s too early for fresh powder, but the small family business was “totally game for our shenanigans,” he says, “and made snow for us.”

From skiing to snowboarding, this spot boasts 13 trails with serene views of Warwick Valley. Mount Peter also offers free skiing and snowboarding lessons for beginners every weekend with a paid lift ticket or pass.
The ski area first opened in 1936 and is the “oldest operating ski area in New York State, and one of the few remaining family operated ski areas in the country,” per their website.

In the middle of a group glamping trip over the summer, Danny and Claude get tired of roughing it and end up sneaking off to a luxury hotel. The couple lounge by the pool and sip on cocktails at the oceanfront location, which is actually El Conquistador Resort.
The tranquil spot is located on the eastern point of the island and offers views of the Atlantic Ocean. The resort also has access to its own private island called Palomino, as well as the on-site Coqui Water Park, 18-hole golf course and a spa.
Just a 30-minute drive away is the serene Luquillo Beach where the show’s beachside scenes were shot, including when Anne decides to challenge herself and learn how to surf.
All episodes of The Four Seasons are now streaming on Netflix.
